Appointments

We understand you have questions. Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about appointments at Half Dental. If you want to speak with someone, please feel to free to call us at ( 702 876 2525 ) or ask your dentist or any member of the Half Dental team.

How much will my initial visit cost?
At Half Dental, our doctors and staff believe in making dental care affordable and accessible for everyone. If you don’t have insurance, there will be no charge for your first visit for a comprehensive exam and x-rays.*

The doctor will perform the exam and recommend a course of treatment. The office manager will provide pricing information and discuss payment options. Flexible payment plans are also available to make your treatment affordable. Discounts such as the free new patient appointment cannot be combined with insurance.

Is the office handicapped accessible?
All Half Dental offices are accessible to disabled patients to make every visit as comfortable as possible. Please let us know ahead of time if you would like us to make any special arrangements for you.

Can my 17-year-old bring his 6-year-old sister to their appointment?
All patients under the age of eighteen must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during an office visit.

Why can’t I find any prices anywhere?
Pricing for services and procedures varies. Once you meet your doctor and they evaluate what treatment is needed, the office manager can give you better information. Half Dental fees are typically average 10% lower than other providers in the market.

Is the dentist in the office licensed?
Yes, all Half Dental dentists and professionals are fully licensed in the states in which they practice. They provide themselves on delivering a high level of quality care.

Can I schedule an appointment for a cleaning only?
An exam to determine your oral health is an essential first step. The hygienist will perform cleanings based on your oral health. They will quickly schedule your cleaning, allowing proper time for them to give you the attention you deserve.

Are x-rays really necessary?
Absolutely. It is impossible to see directly between the teeth or under the gums or bone without the use of a dental radiograph. Many diseases and conditions can only be detected with the use of dental x-rays. X-rays allow dentists to detect disease and other conditions much sooner than the clinical examination alone. When problems are identified early, it’s easier to resolve them and avoid more costly treatments.

How do I schedule an appointment with the oral surgeon?
Your Half Dental office team will work with you to schedule an appointment should you need one.

How do I schedule an appointment for a root canal with the endodontist?
Same as above

Will I need to make arrangements for pre-medication?
The first visit for a new patient will consist of an x-ray, an examination by the dentist, and a consultation with the office manager, when all your questions can be answered. There will not be any procedures on your first visit.

On my insurance website, I see 35 dentists listed at your location. Is that true?
At Half Dental each office works with a number of insurance providers in order to help make dental care accessible for you. Your insurance company website has likely provided a listing of all the dentists within our company, rather than a specific list by location.

Do you accept Medicaid/Medicare, etc.?
Medicaid and Medicare are not insurance. It is a state-funded plan. Our offices do not work with these programs. We do, however, offer a range of flexible, affordable payment plans.

Do you treat children?
Yes. Half Dental welcomes young patients from the age of six and up. It’s important to start caring for your oral health early! All patients under the age of eighteen must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during an office visit.

Are you accepting new patients?
Absolutely. As a new patient, your first appointment will include a comprehensive exam, x-rays and a consultation with your office manager. They will answer all your questions, as well as go over your suggested treatment plan, pricing options and will help you schedule any future appointments.

Does your office use IV Sedation?
No. IV sedation is used only by an oral surgeon. Generally, the dentists will use a local anesthetic like Novocain during treatments if needed. Nitrous oxide (Laughing Gas) is not offered.

What is the difference between Novocain and IV Sedation?
Novocain is a local anesthetic used to numb only a particular area of the mouth. IV sedation is a conscious sedation. When used, the patient is awake and aware of their surroundings, but unable to feel or remember anything about the procedure.

I’m pregnant; can I come in for a cleaning?
Absolutely! We will not be able to take x-rays, but welcome your visit. However, prior to your first visit, you must obtain a release form from your OBGYN, indicating that you can visit a dental office.

I have no insurance and bad credit. Do I have any options?
Half Dental doctors and staff strive to make dental care available to everyone. Each office offers convenient financing through CareCredit and Chase Health Advance. You can apply online, over the telephone or in our office at the time of your visit. Please remember that we require two forms of identification, including one state-issued photo ID, in order to set up financing.
*Offered in select states only.
